A Novel Feature of Valence Quark Distributions in Hadrons

Examining the evolution of maximum valence quark distribution, qV, weighted by Bjorken x, h(x,t)?xqV(x,t), it is observed that h(x,t) at peak becomes a one-parameter function; h(xp,t)=?(xp(t)), where xp position peak, t=logQ2, and Q2 resolution scale. This observation used to derive new model-independent relation which connects partial derivative parton distribution functions (PDFs) in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) equation through logarithm function ?(xp(t)). A numerical analysis this using empirical PDFs results an exponential form ?(xp(t))=h(xp,t)=CeDxp(t) for leading next-to-next order approximations range Q2, covering four orders magnitude. The exponent, D, “height-position” correlation converges with increase approximation. result holds all PDF sets considered. similar also pion indicating obtained may be universal any non-singlet partonic distribution. indicate no finite number exchanges can describe analytic behavior fixed Q2.
